TomTom Crew was a smash hit at the 2007 and 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival – it had everything from crazy drumming to beat-boxing. Also look out for Circle Of Rythm, a trio featuring Ben Walsh, Greg Sheehan and Bobby Singh.

We have 24hr access to a rehearsal room / studio, and are looking to continue song writing and recording as well as playing live shows.

Having recently parted ways with their drummer the band is now seeking someone to step in and continue the legacy!

The ideal person for the part would have to be blast-beat savvy and competent in double kick, plus be easy to work with.

HUMAN have a new album halfway finished and shows lined up for the year ahead so NOW is the time to jump at the opportunity and fly up the ladder! And if you don’t live in Christchurch well… consider relocating here if you really want to make a good go of it. It will be worth it.

Don’t delay, there’s music to be made!

These guys have a real 80′s brit metal vibe going on – you can preview their debut album Coalition on the Careless site.

Be Prepared – you don’t want to get up on stage and make a fool of yourself the first time and that’s why it’s important to be prepared. You should know a little bit about what you’re getting into, so don’t be afraid to go to your karaoke bar beforehand to scout out the location. Get an idea of the stage in addition to where the audience will be. Take a look at the karaoke machine and see how the lyric display is set up. You also want to pick a good song for the first time, and it should be one you can handle with no problem.

Be Polite – it can be intimidating to go to a new type of environment and fit in. There is definitely a subculture that surrounds karaoke, and you have to play by the rules if you expect to be accepted. One of the simplest things you can do is to stay polite and avoid the temptation to act cocky or make fun of other people. Sometimes when newcomers get nervous, they can put down karaoke itself as a defense mechanism. Stay away from this type of behavior and remember that being friendly is your best road to having a great experience with everyone else.

Bring Friends – if you need emotional support, then make sure to bring a great group of friends with you. You might even try singing a duet for the first time because it takes a lot of the pressure off of you directly. Rather than getting up by yourself, can go up with a friend or even with a group of people to sing together. In any case, it really helps to have a table full of people who already know you to lend you their support.

Play To The Crowd – a lot of people focus on their voice when it comes to singing, and while this is important, you also have to remember to play to the crowd. Playing to the crowd means performing to the best of your ability and putting a little bit of energy while you’re up on stage. Don’t just stand there with the microphone glued to the front part of your face. Use your hands, legs, and body language to really play out the song. Even if you don’t have the greatest voice in the world, this technique will surely get people excited to watch you.

Try It At Home – if you don’t think you’re ready for a public performance, there’s nothing stopping you from buying a simple karaoke machine and doing it at home. Of course the advantages a lot of the pressure will be taken off you. You can sing in the privacy of your own home and test out different songs without anyone judging you. And afterwards, you can still use your machine as the centerpiece for fun parties with all of your friends in your living room.

It’s For Everyone – the last thing to remember is that karaoke is for everyone, and there is a great communal spirit if you’re willing to tap into it. It’s not about becoming a star or having the best performance of the night. It’s about hard-working people getting a chance for the spotlight while sharing music surrounded by strangers and friends alike. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to have a stellar performance, and just enjoy the music for what it is. You might discover a brand-new hobby that you love for the rest of your life.

We’re looking to lift our profile in the coming months so you can expect to hit the ground running with more gigs and studio time just around the corner.

We’re looking to get back into the studio asap to record more demos and we’re aiming to record an EP/album this year. We have a determination and belief that we will breakthrough – 2011 is going to be a big year for Beautiful Collision. It’s gonna go boom!

But if you’re into heavy rock or metal you will have seen (and heard) a double bass drum set being played. Although believe it or not, these kits actually have their roots in jazz back in the 1940′s!

Now double bass drum kits have either a single foot pedal, or two foot pedals connected by a bar. These operate the beater or as it is also known, a mallet. They can be used with one pedal, or with a set up that has one for each foot. Generally they are used by the right foot of the drummer.

The invention of the double pedal means that you do not need two bass drums, which means more versatility and less cost for the drummer. Not to mention that takes half as much space as having two drums on stage which makes them very popular with bands.

One great way to learn the drums is a electronic drum pad. These are great! They help you learn to play the drums without the large investment. This also makes it possible for you to try out the drums, and make sure it is something you really want to pursue. If you decide that you are just not cut out for the drums, then you are not left with a drum set in your living room.

The electronic drum pad is very similar to playing actual drums. It even simulates the feel of real drums. Most are topped with a rubber material to give you the bounce that comes with an actual drum. There are even drum pads that have a rattle incorporated to give you the true sound of a snare drum.

Another great thing about a drum pad is that is is easier to transport then an actual set. This means you can take them with you and practice whenever you get a free moment. Soon playing the drums will be easy as pie and who knows, you may even want to start your own band.

When you do decide that you are ready to buy, look for cheap drum sets. That does not mean that you look for low quality, but look for low price. There is a big difference. Many people also sell brand name sets when they upgrade, so that is always an option when you are starting out.

The cheap drum sets are great for beginners. Make sure that all the components are sturdy and well made so they will not fall apart the first time you use them. Many of the brand name companies sell cheaper sets, but still do not scrimp on quality – they just come with fewer options. These sets are generally good for beginners because they can be upgraded and grow with you. The cheaper sets may not have the sound quality of the more expensive ones, but as a beginner, you are more concerned with learning to use the set than perfect tones.
